Dr. Tara A. Chalakani (she/her/ella) is an award-winning psychotherapist with more than 30 years of healthcare and behavioral health experience dedicated to helping individuals heal, grow, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Known for her warm, compassionate, and empowering approach, Dr. Tara believes that every person already possesses the strength and resilience needed to heal and thrive. Her goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where clients can work through life’s challenges, overcome obstacles, and become the best version of themselves.

Dr. Tara specializes in trauma-informed therapy and incorporates a holistic mind-body-spirit approach to emotional wellness. She is trained in Psychodrama, Jungian Sand Play Therapy, and EMDR, helping clients process trauma, improve relationships, build confidence, and reconnect with themselves on a deeper level.

Her educational background includes undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Psychology, a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and a Doctoral degree in Psychology. In addition, she has completed doctoral-level studies in Holistic Health and maintains licensure as a Registered Nurse, bringing a unique and integrative perspective to her work.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Tara serves as an appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Dr. Tara is also a frequent mental health expert featured on national television, radio, and podcasts, and is the co-host of the Welloff Podcast through iHeartMedia.
